There are 150 foreign invested enterprises approved to establish in the whole province with actual foreign investment of 1.35 billion dollars in 2006. 11 enterprises of world top 500 have invested in shanxi. In 2006, the volume of import and export amounts to 6.63 billion dollars, among which export is 4.14 billion dollars and import is 2.49 billion dollars. Shanxi has built up business relations with 174 countries and regions. Mechanical and electrical products and high tech products, which have been the new sight in Shanxi’s export, amount to 0.89 billion dollars and 0.19 billion dollars separately, increasing 49.6% and 84.2% against last year. There are 34 enterprises that have the qualification of external undertaking contracted projects with cooperative operation volume 0.29 billion dollars in 2006.
